Faculty Multimedia Center Resources

The Faculty Multimedia Center (FMC) is a state of the art digital media production and multimedia learning facility for faculty use. The FMC consists of a number of work stations for faculty to:

  • Convert 35mm and larger slides, negatives and transparencies to a digital format for printing, insertion into PowerPoint presentations and other uses.
  • Digitize documents and other paperwork into pdf, jpg and other formats at up to 100 pages per minute with our Kodak i4200 high speed scanner.
  • Scan up to 11″x17″ and larger artwork and other flat materials with our Epson Expression 10000XL flatbed scanner.
  • Digitize VHS tape (adhering to copyright and fair use guidelines) and saving to DVD and other file formats at our video production work station.
There are two open computer workstations where faculty can come to check email, surf the web or work on course preparations. computer
Sound Booth The FMC is home to an integrated multimedia computer system for audio recording, capturing screen content with Camtasia and a video camera for capturing someone speaking or being interviewed. A teleprompter is available if needed. This system is perfect to narrate over a PowerPoint presentation.

The FMC has a photo studio for taking portraits that can be posted on departmental web pages and a variety of other uses. We also have an archival large format color printer that prints up to 44″ wide x any length. Please allow up to 48 hours for printing requests to be fulfilled.

The FMC training area, separated from faculty workstations, can be reserved for departmental use. It contains 24 computers that can be booted in either PC or Mac mode with a variety of software packages for each. FMC Training Lab
Lightboard The Lightboard/One Button Studio is an easy to use new way for faculty to create mini video lectures for online viewing.  Standing behind a piece of glass, a professor can look directly into the camera and write or draw on the glass.  The camera will digitally flip the image so the writing will appear normal.  There are just a few easy steps in creating a video using this system.  As with all of the equipment in the FMC, assistance is always available but with this system you probably will not need it!
